This complex design
proposes the addition of a 24-story tower to a block in downtown Boston
containing the finest intact grouping of 19th century commercial buildings
in the city. The design is executed in such a way as to create a harmonious
blend of the old and new. Using the 10-12 stroy existing structures
as a base, the new tower is set back and crafted in the same granite
and detailing. At the base, the existing alley, Quaker Lane, has been
transformed into a shopping arcade.
